4.23.10 Food waste Friday

Food waste is something that we have struggled with through the years. It’s not something I’m proud of and I shudder to think of all the money that has gone to the dump. In an effort to change my evil ways, I am going to join The Frugal Girl and post my own food waste. I’m hoping that the embarassment of putting it out there for the world to see will encourage me to use everything that I bring into the house!

This week I have a small bowl of baked beans. We cooked them up to go with some bbq we had. We didn’t eat them all and they somehow got lost in the refridgerator. They look ok in the picture but they had been in there for over a week. So in the trash they went.

This week I have some zucchini that I bought with the idea of having them as a side dish. That didn’t work out so now they are pushing the end of their useable life. The plan is to make some muffins with them. Unfortunately that has been the plan for the past couple of days and I still haven’t gotten around to it!

I saw your link on FG and I like your blog. I think the 101 Goals is a great idea. How long did it take to write the list? 🙂

Thanks Grace! It took about a week to put together the list. It really is hard to come up with 101 things!

Oh, I feel your pain there. I’ve often let food go bad even when I had great plans for it, just because I didn’t get around to excuting the plan! lol
